Who Are We?
Heart for Education is an inquiry-based educational support team. We organize and provide after school programs, summer enrichment programs, teacher workshops, and educational consulting.
Heart for Education is run by credentialed educators, with a combined experience of over 30 years in teaching and administration, who are experts in the fields of differentiation and inquiry. They have experience with teaching in and supporting programs such as Gifted and Talented Education (GATE), International Baccalaureate (IB), AVID, and Cognitive Guided Instruction (CGI), to name just a few. The founder has served as an International Baccalaureate Coordinator for Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma Programs as well as serving on the state board for the California Association of IB World Schools formerly CIBO.
What is inquiry?
To provide an exact definition is probably too restrictive. Nevertheless, inquiry is the process by which we start to ask questions in order to find out what we know and what we want to know. It is what scientists do when they investigate a problem. We want to assist students, parents, educators, and people in general with becoming more responsible for their own learning. We are often taught in school via textbooks and other resources and provided information that we are then asked to memorize and retain for some type of test. Inquiry is more than that by involving the person who wants to learn to become responsible for asking the right questions and investigating the answers so that the learning becomes more meaningful, permanent, and applicable to what we do each day.
